Tester Exchange ("we") helps Android developers meet Google Play's closed-testing requirement by testing each other's apps. This policy explains what the website and the Tester Exchange Android app collect and why.
What we collect
- Account: your Google account email address and name, from Google Sign-In. Developers whose closed test you join can see your email address. They need it to add you to their Google Play test track.
- Apps you list: package name, app name, description and testing instructions you enter.
- Testing activity: for each app you joined, whether it is installed on your phone and the total number of seconds it was in the foreground each day. The Android app reads this from Android's Usage Access, only for the packages you joined, and sends one number per app per day. We never read usage of any other app, and never content, screens, or keystrokes.
- Device identifier: a one-way hash of your phone's Android ID, used only to enforce one account per phone. The raw ID never leaves your device.
- Feedback you choose to send about an app. This is shared with that app's developer.
- Credits ledger: credits earned and spent.
How we use it
Only to run the exchange: matching testers to apps, verifying daily use, paying credits, preventing abuse, and giving developers their testing report. We do not sell data, show ads, or use it for profiling.
Where it is stored
Data is stored with Supabase (database and authentication, hosted in Tokyo, Japan). Sign-in is provided by Google. The website is hosted on GitHub Pages.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. To delete your account and all associated data, email the address below from your account's email. We delete it within 30 days. Uninstalling the app stops all collection immediately. You can also revoke Usage Access at any time in Android settings.
Children
Tester Exchange is for developers and testers aged 18 or older.
